Electric Car sales increased 50 fold between 2010-2015

This is a chart from the International Energy Agency (IEA) showing the cumulative sales numbers of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) as well as Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV). As you can see, the numbers for pure BEVs increased almost 5 fold, from around 160.000 to roughly 750.000 between 2012 and 2015.

What’s even more impressive however is the 50 fold jump in annual sales between 2010 and 2015, as well as the 60 fold increase in cumulative sales within the same time frame, both of which unfortunately can’t be seen in this chart very well. I looked for the table from the statistical annex of the IEA Global EV Outlook 2016 but I couldn’t find an image to post here, so you will have to look it up on your own…..Sorry! 😉
